The English Wheel, traditionally known in Britain as a wheeling machine, is predominantly used in auto-restoration sectors to shape and form compound (double curvature) curves and contours from flat sheets of metal such as aluminium or steel. Designed to surface stretch the material, this machine is typically used to shape panels for car, motorcycle and aircraft restoration; however is also frequently seen in the workshops of coachbuilders, racing car makers, sculptors and more.
Using an English Wheel requires skill, practice and patience. The user will need to master the art of carefully controlling the pressure and movement of the upper wheel against the metal sheet. Once proficient in such, the wheeling machine will become an invaluable tool enabling the user to achieve high-end quality results in their craftmanship.
